There is no way around it. Jeremiah Wright thinks that God should Damn America and his student of 20+ years is trying to get that done. Yes. Barack Hussein Obama is doing all he can to damn America. To damn America is to “ruin” America and Barry is all about that. Time left most of this out of the year in pictures. Here is a quick review.
Even the leaders of the world are starting to become concerned with Obama thinking. Had we trusted our instincts we would have known what his plans were. It wasn’t as though he didn’t tell us.
To fundamentally transform America is something different to Barack than it was to the Americans who voted for him.
Even CNN has reported Obama's abuses
If that isn't bad enough, Obama attacks the Tea Party. These people are your mom, your dad, your neighbor, you...
God Damn America? If Barack and his Anti-American administration continue to go unchecked that just might be the case. You see it with your own eyes. No one can make this stuff up.
See you at the Polls, in Washington, and anywhere I think I can do something to save my country. Barry if you don't like it here, go where you would like it better.
Michelle Obama spoke before the NAACP and so plainly stated that Blacks have it worse than Whites in America. She offered no solutions other than they should “not rest on their laurels…increase our intensity”. This organization which is by definition racist: the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People. They are not for the advancement of all people but just colored people. Why is it that racists get to charge others with racism as if they were somehow above it. It was White peoples guilt that allowed such organization to play these major roles in America. Sure we want equality and if this NAACP will help then so be it but that is not what they are about. America wake up! There are: NAACP United Negro College Fund Black Business Council Black Entertainment TV Black Pride Month Congressional Black Caucus Black Greek Letter Organizations Black Muslims 100 Black Men of America African American Planning Commision African American Speaker Bureau National Association of Black Hotel Owners, Operators and Developers National Association of Black Accountants Be Someone Inc. Blacks In Government Black Culinarians Alliance National Association of Market Developers Black Wall Street Merchants Association Black Women in Sisterhood for Action National Black Child Development Institute National Society of Black Engineers Jack and Jill of America National Urban League Miss Black America Rainbow Push Coalition National Action Network
This is by no means an exhaustive look at organizations which only provide service to black people. The list is nearly endless. Some are led by Poverty Pimps and Race Hustlers like the “Reverends” Jesse and Al. They feed off the emotions of their followers leaving them with less money and more hatred for the conditions they find themselves in: trapped and enslaved by the system. Yes. They are enslaved by their own minds not believing that they can be anything but poor. Most of these organizations will foster that belief while they condemn the community and the government for not giving more. And what have they added, these organizations and others like them, what have they done to improve race relations? Yes. I thought so.
Obama was supposed to be our Post-Racial President. Instead he and Michelle have become dividers-in-chief. Yet you have to recognize that with the elections looming in the near future it is time for the haters and baiters to mobilize their base. They have to get them to the voting booths. You know that hate is a strong motivator.
Now here are the folks that Eric Holder’s DOJ let go free from charges of voter fraud. How much “ramping up” do you need?
Coming up with new and stimulating reading for my followers is something that I give serious thought to. Since I tend to blog about Obama and his administration there are some things I have noticed. How many times should I point out that Obama lies. Everyone knows that. Even those people who do or were supporters of his know that he is incapable of telling the truth. And then there is the underhanded or around-the-back way Obama legislates. Surely everyone know by now that he has no concern for “the process” but only the result. In other words, he doesn’t care if it is legal, constitutional, ethical or perhaps even moral as long as it is something that “he” wants. He did this with healthcare and he did it with the budget. Truthfully, I struggle to come up with new information to interest you.
Lately I have been researching the progress Muslims have made in taking over America. As you probably know that is one of their stated goals. On first glance it doesn’t seem all that alarming until you find how many Muslim organizations are in the U.S. and how well they have placed themselves in government and academia. I used to think they were just a religion but I now know that for Muslims government and god are the same thing. Moreover, only their god is god and the God of Christians, Jews and others are no gods at all. In fact if you believe in Jehovah, Yahweh, Almighty God, God, or Jesus you are banned from many Muslim countries and may soon be subordinated or worse here in America. I couldn’t imagine this happening but all the proof that I can come up with shows that it will only be years until Muslims will rule. Some will say that I am nuts now but they will not say that then.
I would like to write about how the Government was securing our borders to the south, as well as the north, east, and west. Sadly that is not the case. Arizona is raising money, perhaps more than a million dollars by now to defend themselves from the federal government. The government is not suing them because their law is bad but because they say Arizona has no right to have their own law on immigration. I know. On TV they say it is about possible abuses or civil rights violations but that is not what the lawsuit says. They say things like racist, and profiling, and pulling people over for no reason to get people upset. If they tried to sue Arizona over that they would get laughed out of court. Nope. The reason they are suing is because Arizona has a law regarding immigration: nothing more; nothing less. In the meantime Obama is working to try and get amnesty for all those poor people so that they can become good voters for him.
Unfortunately, I could not find any real news to tell you about. Your Constitution is being destroyed more each day and your rights disappear with it. Money is being spent at unheard of rates and the world’s leaders are begging us to stop it. Of course we don’t. Obama knows best you know. So the only thing I could write for you today is that in only months you have lost a great deal of America’s freedoms and in a few more months you will surely loose the balance of them. That is unless people decide to all stand up at once and say “No More”. That is my prayer as I can still pray until the Muslims succeed in taking over. Barry? Didn’t you use to be one?
It is all about race. La Raza means the Race. The nation of Islam is all about Race. Black Liberation theology is all about Race. Rich man poor man is all about Race. The only ones who don’t get it are white people. White people have been bludgeoned with accusations of racism that they are the only ones who don’t get it that IT IS ALL ABOUT RACE.
Obama was elected the first Black President. Sotomayor is a Latina SCOTUS. Kagan is a Jewis Scotus. So and so is a ???? something. It is on the every form you fill out it is everywhere: RACE, RACE, RACE. Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton make their money off of Race. Louis Farrakhan says that White people are not humans. Barack Obama Makes fun of Tea Party protestors and that is all about Race. How do I know? They tell me at every turn. White people are bad, evil, racist, hate mongers and Black and Latinos need to come together to undo the wrongs Whites have done.
As for me I am sick to death of it. I have given in to “poor me” for so long that I now believe it is an incurable disease. I have watched as we have thrown sympathy at it. That didn’t work. We tried genuine compassion and that didn’t work. We have thrown billons of dollars at these problems only to see them get worse. No matter what White people do we cannot win. There will always be race baiters and weak minds to follow them.
Listen up. To my knowledge my family nor my ancestors never had a slave of any color. I owe nothing to anyone. I have respected and encouraged, supported and worked to help all races to achieve without consideration of color. I have donated and prayed for all the people of this nation. Nevertheless I am white. I will never know what you are going through nor where you have been. Neither will you know me for who I am. Those of you racist Blacks and Hispanics who want to hate me will just have to do that. I am done with enabling your racist behaviors by avoiding confrontation with you. I have eaten all of your hatred that I intend to. It is you that have backed me into this corner where I feel I have no choice but to stand. Well hear this.
Come to me with an open hand and I will shake it and welcome you as a friend. Come to me with a clenched fist and bitterness on your lips and you will find me less than hospitable. Your self-pity has destroyed your sense of self worth and importance until you now feel that you may abuse me to somehow correct the wrongs done to you. I am not your enemy. I am an American. Put away your hatred and let’s be brothers or show yourself at last for who you are and let me see the evil intentions you have. Even in this I am telling you this in love but be not deceived.
My tolerance is not a “Kick Me” sign and you should not interpret it as that. Yes. I know that many of you long for the taste of White Peoples blood to soothe your woes. Let me assure you that you will find it neither refreshing nor easily obtained. We have contemplated long about your sufferings and have done what we can to remove them. We whites now believe that you are insatiable in your desires for recognition and compensation. While the majority of White people will not speak out do not be deceived; they are prepared. Sure we fear the worst and pray and prepare for the best. This direction people of color are choosing is not of our doing. You may look to your leaders and to the dividers like Obama and his administration.
If Mexico, Africa, Central America or some other place is where your loyalties lies may I suggest that you go peaceably there. Save the world the unneeded hatred you dispense and the troubles that are sure to follow. As I see it you have a choice to make and we have none. We have given until we are given out. Choose wisely as this is not some romantic fantasy. This hatred that you are spewing will turn back on you. You know who you are and you know the truth. Accept it. We have nothing more to give.
This title may remind you of a song by Dusty Springfield “Wishin' and hopin' and thinkin' and prayin'…” In that song Dusty talks about how to get the love of a man. It is a great song and when I hear it I reminded by how we are going about the rebirth of America all wrong. Dusty’s song is filled with action. Our song is filled with whining.
Then only action these days is coming from the Tea Party and a few brave Military men who are risking personal peril for saying they don’t recognize Obama’s right to be president or commander in chief. Another serviceman is “Facebooking” at the risk of being punished by the military. Outside of these examples I really don’t hear of anything that is being done. Everyone knows what needs doing but no one wants to say it. Just these words are enough to scare most people off of this blog and I haven’t said anything yet. I’m just talkin’ and bloggin’ and waitin’…
The reason for this is because what we are doing as a people and as a society is “Fearin’”. We have to contend with “Political Correctness” which is just another way of saying that you should think and feel certain things and if you do you should never speak them. Well, I happen to think that Obama is a “Racist” and that what he promotes is a racist agenda. I refuse to be the slave of “Fearin’”. Obama had barely wrinkled the sheets on the Whitehouse bed when he accused a “White” officer of being stupid and that “without the facts”. The church he attended for 20+ years is clearly racist. These words are from their website (the Trinity United Church of Christand are part of the “Black Value System”:
9. Pledge to Make the Fruits of All Developing and Acquired Skills Available to the Black Community. ________________________________________
10. Pledge to Allocate Regularly, a Portion of Personal Resources for Strengthening and Supporting Black Institutions. ________________________________________
11. Pledge Allegiance to All Black Leadership Who Espouse and Embrace the Black Value System. ________________________________________
12. Personal Commitment to Embracement of the Black Value System. To measure the worth and validity of all activity in terms of positive contributions to the general welfare of the Black Community and the Advancement of Black People towards freedom.
Never have I seen so many uses of the word “Black”; black people, black leaders, black business, black community, black values, black institutions…etc. There is so much Black here there is no room for anything but Black. This is only one reason why I think Obama is a racist. I also believe his politics are largely designed to take from “Whites” and give to the Blacks. This may or may not be Politically correct speech but I think it is true. Redistribution of the wealth is more likely to benefit Blacks in America than whites. Just talkin’ and bloggin’ here…
I also believe Obama is a Dictator. Everything I can find on the man shows that he will not be assuaged by anyone and must have his own way on everything. You cannot disagree with him as you will be excluded: He has excluded republicans, conservatives, tea party protestors, reporters and TV networks, and etc. So often the man is rude to those asking him questions. He will bore them, talk over them, become effusive, and deny them. He is like a spoiled child in the Presidency. What the hell were we thinking to elect this emotionally underdeveloped person? To make it worse he had “No, None, Nada, Zip” experience. Excuse me I just had an attack of ???????
So here we find ourselves in the “Fearin’” stage. Actually we have be afraid the whole time but now were afraid of our own fears. We are afraid that we made a big mistake. We fear that November cannot come soon enough. We fear being found out that we believe that our country has been seized by a communist, racist, fascist, community organizing dictator who will destroy all hope of America as we have known it. We have spoken in hush tones and behind closed doors until now we are growing louder and coming out into the public realm and saying “Throw the Bum Out”.
Now if you have made it this far on this blog you are a seeker, a believer, a patriot, or a spy. To all of you I say that we have not come this far to be defeated by fear. In the 60’s Arlo Guthrie wanted all of America to stand up and sing a chorus of “Alice’s Restaurant”. Arlo was anti-war but his point that if the people unite and all stand at once they are unstoppable. India’s, Mahatma Gandhi proved this very thing. Read these words from him:
We believe that it is the inalienable right of the Indian people, as of any other people, to have freedom and to enjoy the fruits of their toil and have the necessities of life, so that they may have full opportunities of growth. We believe also that if any government deprives a people of these rights and oppresses them the people have a further right to alter it or abolish it.
Sound familiar? These people marched unarmed against British marksmen who fired on them briefly before coming to their senses and refusing to fire on and unarmed people. On other occasions the British beat the Indians with clubs until the soldiers themselves became exhausted and ceased the beatings. And what is it that we have to fear? The American Military? I think not. The police? Perhaps a few. Obama? Not at all. If we march in sufficient numbers not even equally a majority but purely a dedicated, single-minded, group none could deafeat or dissuade us. Surely America awaits her rescuers. It is true that Gandhi was arrested and imprisoned. In fact he was imprisoned so often that he called the prisons “Her Majesty’s Hotels”. Today we seem to be lacking our Gandhi but I know he or she is out there. Ultimately Gandhi and his movement won only to result in his assassination. Will someone sound the trumpet.
Now I have not even mentioned Obama's pro-Muslim, anti-Israel approach. This has already become too much talk and not enough action.
America hear me! We have no time for Talkin’ and Bloggin’ and Waitin’ and Fearin’… Obama is “Marchin”.
This is a re-Publised article which upon reflection required some edits. First of all the title. I think I had been too clever with the title when what I hope to say is that Obama is a Racist. The proof is in his history and will be his legacy if he is not stopped. Even now he is out brainwashing the younger Americans on the wonder of his Creation. And so, consider this...
What do you call a country with a Leader who lies continually, ignores the desire of the people, places burdens upon or provides assistance to people based upon their Race, ignores the founding of his country, and manipulates the media to tell only certain perspectives? Wow. That could be any number of fascist regimes but it is now true of America. Hold on to this for just one moment while I pose some questions.
Do you wonder how could a political nobody become arguably the most divisive president of these United States, and all of that in months?
How could a bill that the overwhelming majority of Americans don’t want become law?
Who among us feels that our congress people who favored this bill listened to anything we had to say?
Who feels that truthfulness in the Media is dead, sustained on life support only for the benefit of the government?
Who believes it is wrong for the Whitehouse to have its own press and release only finished “News” to the people?
Who had hoped that the people would ultimately prevail and Washington would return to sanity?
Who hopes for November but deep down feels that the elections may make little or no difference?
Who feels that the deck is stacked and the cards dealt and Obama has all the Trump cards?
Who can list at least 5 things that Obama flat out lied about.
Lastly, who believes that Barack Hussein Obama has a secret personal agenda and that he will stop at nothing to achieve it?
Now back to my original thoughts and their proof. Most of you reading this have little need for proof for most of what I have written. Some may agree with it all. My comment about Race surely made some uneasy. If you are white I suspect you are very uneasy. We white people have been made to question our own opinions and thoughts about race issues. We have been taught to fear race related discussions and to say only racially acceptable things: whatever that may be. Relax. Black is just a color, or is it?
I want to now give you another take on my statement and then explain it. Obama’s redistribution of wealth is a “Racial” motivated effort. It is a thinly veiled repackaging of “Reparations” which many black organizations have been fighting for during the last 50 or so years. Basically, blacks feel they are owed money, land, and a mule with interest for the sufferings of their slave ancestors. Some of that thinking is in Black Liberation Theology. Obama spent 20+ years under his pastor Jeremiah Wright and the black liberation theology to which he subscribes as does his successor Otis Moss III. Here is a current quote from the Trinity Church website:
“We are a congregation which is Unashamedly Black and Unapologetically Christian... Our roots in the Black religious experience and tradition are deep, lasting and permanent. We are an African people, and remain "true to our native land," the mother continent, the cradle of civilization. God has superintended our pilgrimage through the days of slavery, the days of segregation, and the long night of racism. It is God who gives us the strength and courage to continuously address injustice as a people, and as a congregation. We constantly affirm our trust in God through cultural expression of a Black worship service and ministries which address the Black Community.”
Notice the loyalty to Black, the Black religious experience, Christian, African people, the mother continent, God, and the Black Community. Spend some time looking into Black Experience and Black Community and it is highly racially charged with little respect for or need of white people. These things clearly state the differences between the way White America and Black America view their country and largely their Christian experience. Whites used Christianty to keep the black man down. Former pastor and Obama mentor Jeremiah Wright had this to say:
“[The United States] government lied about their belief that all men were created equal. The truth is they believed that all white men were created equal. The truth is they did not even believe that white women were created equal, in creation nor civilization. The government had to pass an amendment to the Constitution to get white women the vote. Then the government had to pass an equal rights amendment to get equal protection under the law for women. The government still thinks a woman has no rights over her own body, and between Uncle Clarence who sexually harassed Anita Hill, and a closeted Klan court, that is a throwback to the 19th century, handpicked by Daddy Bush, Ronald Reagan, Gerald Ford, between Clarence and that stacked court, they are about to undo Roe vs. Wade, just like they are about to un-do affirmative action. The government lied in its founding documents and the government is still lying today. Governments lie.”
Obama said these in his own books in his own words:
"I ceased to advertise my mother's race at the age of 12 or 13, when I began to suspect that by doing so I was ingratiating myself to whites."
"Yes, I’d seen weakness in other men— Gramps and his disappointments, Lolo and his compromise. But these men had become object lessons for me, men I might love but never emulate, white men and brown men whose fates didn’t speak to my own. It was into my father’s image, the black man, son of Africa, that I’d packed all the attributes I sought in myself, the attributes of Martin and Malcolm, DuBois and Mandela."
Clearly Obama sees these people and himself as a Messiah to the blacks. Black Liberation Theology is essentially that and it is broad enough to find room for someone like Louis Farrakhan who was honored at Trinity by Jeremiah Wright with a “Lifetime Achievement Award”. This is the same Farrakhan that and the Nation of Islam who believe:
According to the Nation, whites were created by Yakub, the mad scientist, as a test for the superior black race, who are the chosen people, and also as a curse on it.
And again…”Mr. Farrakhan told the few whites in the crowd, "You are not a devil by the color of your skin; you are the devil by the teachings you have accepted."
Clearly this only shows circumstantial evidence and/or guilt by association but consider this. The hefty tax burdens will be on the top 2% of the wealthiest Americans. Would you venture a guess as to what percentage of those people to be black? On the other hand the states are expecting to increase their Medicaid rolls by up to 50%. Would you venture a guess as to what percent of those people are white?
Caucasians make up about 50% of Americans, with blacks second at about 25% and Latinos at 10%. All others make up the balance. It wasn’t until today that I realized that Obama’s efforts, whether planned or not, largely penalize whites and benefit blacks. I am so sad to think it but that is the way it works out. 93% of all blacks that voted voted for Obama. A large percentage of whites also voted for him. It is true that the majorities of Tea Party protesters were and are white. Neither he nor his administration acknowledged them. Is that racially motivated?
Lastly, black Americans whose inspiration is Africa are not Americans at all. We are all one people except those who are determined to create separations and divisions.
Whose wife became proud of America only after her husband became president?
What President accused a white police officer of acting stupidly without having any facts?
Which presidents black attorney general dropped all charges against members of the Black Panthers who were involved in voter tampering?
Which Congressional Black Caucus has a perfect record of voting with the president?
Which president of the United States never revealed his college transcripts?
What president has yet to give a straight answer to a question?

Listening to the radio today gave me a real sense of just how badly this country is divided. There are economic and ethnic divisions and racial and cultural divides. There are those who favor government and those who favor even more government and some who want no government at all. Some want to take from those who have and give to the have-nots. Some don’t care who they take it from as long as they get theirs. Tom Brokaw once wrote that the Greatest Generation was those who got us through World War II. I am thinking if we don’t rise to a greater height in these days that we will go down as the “loser” generation.
In Saint Louis there are those fighting to stop the sale of the Rams football team if Rush Limbaugh is a part of the ownership. They contend that he would be too divisive and some players wouldn’t play for him. Some contend that he is a racist as they hurl racist accusations against him that they cannot prove nor will they ever. The Rams have bled this city since coming here and anyone who wants to shoulder some of their debt can have it as far as I am concerned.
Next I find that the actions that congress took to defund ACORN were on a stopgap measure. ACORN will again be funded by the Federal Government “we the taxpayers” on November 1st of this year. So, all the hoopla that went on in congress was a ruse. As of today there has been no action by the Congress to investigate this firm and there is actually some indications that ACORN is continuing to gain support through back channels even now.
President Obama stated that illegal immigrants will not get healthcare. Joe Wilson called him a liar. As it turns out, the Supreme Court has already faced this issue with education in the past and has ruled that “all persons” will be entitled to a public education. Joe it appears that you are right and that no matter what congress puts out it will by law be available to illegal immigrants. In the meantime the government is trying to hamstring the efforts of Arizona’s Maricopa county Sherriff Joe Arpaio. They de-authorized him from arresting illegals. Joe as other plans. In these cases the “Joes have it”!
I have recently become aware of how we whites have been unfair to the blacks. Yes, your heard me right. We are unfair when we don’t stand up to them and call a “spade a spade”. Hear what I said: No more. No less. My choice of words will make some readers nervous. I chose them for that reason and to illustrate a point: to ‘call a “spade a spade” means the same as not “beating around the bush”. Sensitive white people will fear using this term wanting to avoid a racial slur. The word “spade” has had a racial connotation. The saying, calling a spade a spade has been around far longer (1500s) than the racial epithet. Sensitivity is a wonderful thing. Hypersensitivity is a disorder. Read on.
With regard to race relations, we whites often find ourselves in situations where voicing our opinion or speaking up for ourselves would likely cause a “scene” or so we imagine. We don’t know for sure but we fear it. We are all aware of that particularly loud and aggressive person, the one we wish to avoid. As a result we often “enable” bad and even racist behavior. Our inaction actually encourages bad behavior. Please read on. This problem did not come quickly and cannot be easily explained.
There is a saying that I often use, “The pain I feel is preferred to the pain I fear”. Being in a situation where a black person for example says “If I wasn’t black, you wouldn’t treat me that way” is unpleasant at best , particularly if untrue. Yet, using my phrase you may choose the anger inside (the pain you feel) over the fear of their escalated wrath (the pain you fear) when deciding whether to speak up for yourself. This dynamic is true in all of life and not just in race relations. Sometimes it is easier to accept the Status Quo rather than change it.
Of late there has been a tremendous amount of press on race relations in America. Even Mr. Obama inserted himself into racial matters. Generally it has been handled as a black and white issue with a Latino thrown in here or there for good measure. Few if any mention Chinese, Vietnamese, Philippine, or east Indians. So much of race talk in America is a black white thing.
Let me pause here and say that I am not a racist and don’t believe racism should exist. I, like many of you, have been accused of being a racist. It most often occurred at those times when I spoke against certain issues. While my eyes see color my heart does not.
Yet it is time for White Americans to stand up and say “Having a Congressional Black Caucus is in itself and act of racism”. The formation of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus was equally wrong. Division never leads to unity. It just can’t happen. There are “The Black Yellow Pages”, Black Newspapers, the United Negro College Fund, and on and on and on. These groups were created using the guilt that Whites feel for the suffering Blacks have endured. And while these groups may have aided some blacks to prosper they have done nothing to unify our country. In name alone they separate themselves into Black vs. White instead of us: We the People. These are racist groups.
Many will argue that there was and is a need for these groups. These same people will become quite upset if you disagree with them and surely will call you a racist. I am certain that they will say the same of me but in their hearts they will sense the truth of my words. Some will argue about past events and wrongs as justification for such things. I say, “When will 2 Wrongs ever make Right?” Never. "Continuing to try and get new results by the same efforts is by definition: Insanity."
So how can we Whites improve our relationships with African Americans? By treating them as equals. No More. No Less. Do not enable them by cowering to their charges of racism. If they accuse you of treating them badly because they are black, tell them they are only “speaking like that to you because you are white”. Do it in kindness and firmness. This action shows that you are not a racist and have no guilt. Cowering leaves the impression that you might be a racist and certainly shows you as weak to their attacks. I am not proposing war, but peace; not weakness, but strength; not division, but unity.
If you think that what we have done for the past 50 years has worked, keep on doing it. But, if like me, you think it is time for results, Change. Do not pickup that racial guilt and you will not have to live with it. I write these things to White America and those needing to hear this. In the words of the Scholarly Professor and Author Walter E. Williams to White America:
For so many years I have been one of those Americans who were comfortable in letting the system govern itself. That was until this year. This year the whole political system seemed to beg for my recognition. I have always voted for the President and tried to know their basic philosophies. I just never was interested in how the whole thing works, or as it is now, how it doesn’t work.
It seems that our government has broken itself into diverse groups with special agendas. One such group is the “Congressional Black Caucus”. Until Senator Obama joined the group it had been made up solely of legislators from the House of Representatives. Senator Obama was its first Senate member and the caucus’s first member elected president. Their second Senate member is Obama’s Senate seat replacement Roland Burris.
While they are not a Partisan group they currently consist entirely of Democratic Party politicians. It is not a rule. It just happens that way. Only four black Republicans have been elected to congress to date with J.C. Watts of Oklahoma refusing to join the group. Apparently Mr. Watts became labeled as an Uncle Tom for his refusal:
"...they [Jesse Jackson, et al.] said that I had sold out and Uncle Tom. And I said well, they deserve to have that view. But I have my thoughts. And I think they're race-hustling poverty pimps."
Officially you do not have to be black to be a member of the Congressional Black Caucus, but it seems that there has never been a white Black Caucus member even though there have been some interested in applying. However when pressed on the issue of whites joining the caucus, former and current members of the Caucus agreed that the group should remain "exclusively black." Rep. William Lacy Clay, Jr., D-Mo., the son of Rep. William Lacy Clay Sr., D-Mo., a co-founder of the caucus, is quoted as saying, "Mr. Cohen asked for admission, and he got his answer (referring to Rep. Steven Cohen D-TN). He's white and the Caucus is black. Some in Congress (and anyone else with half a brain) have seen these groups as divisive and called for their disbanding.
Representative Tom Tancredo, R-Co., spoke out against the continued existence of the Congressional Black Caucus as well as the DemocraticCongressional Hispanic Caucus and the RepublicanCongressional Hispanic Conference saying, "It is utterly hypocritical for Congress to extol the virtues of a color-blind society while officially sanctioning caucuses that are based solely on race. If we are serious about achieving the goal of a colorblind society, Congress should lead by example and end these divisive, race-based caucuses.”
During his presidential bid, Ralph Nader accused Rep. Melvin Watt of using an “obscene and racist epithet” when Watt supposedly said "You're just another arrogant white man - telling us what we can do - it's all about your ego - another f--king arrogant white man." It seems that the Caucus raised a ruckus when Nader wouldn’t step down as a candidate.
The National Leadership Network of Conservative African-Americans called for an Apology from Rep. Watts and the Congressional Black Caucus. I believe Mr. Nader is still waiting. Is it me or does there seem to be a large number of African Americans groups? Surely this can't be good for unifying this country. To quote 2 things from the late (African American) Booker T. Washington:
“I will permit no man to narrow and degrade my soul by making me hate him.” Booker T. Washington
“There is a class of colored people who make a business of keeping the troubles, the wrongs, and the hardships of the Negro race before the public. Having learned that they are able to make a living out of their troubles, they have grown into the settled habit of advertising their wrongs-partly because they want sympathy and partly because it pays. Some of these people do not want the Negro to lose his grievances, because they do not want to lose their jobs.” Booker T. Washington
One would have to pretty simplistic in their thinking to believe that America has not gone through great pains because of prejudice, racism, and discrimination. In fact, I dare say that anyone who is different in any way will be singled out and treated differently. It was true for the Irish, the Italians, and the Vietnamese. It has been true for every tribe or nation that has chosen to live in our great nation. Humans seem able to discriminate on any imaginable basis including race, gender, creed, national origin, and yes even Vietnam Veteran status.
As a child I wittnessed discrimination and even participated based upon the whomever seemed vulnerable at the time. Attacks were made on the poor, the homeless, the obese, and those who were just a little more different that others. Surveys and studies have shown that "pretty and handsome" people have better chances at good jobs and obtaining help in times of need such as when a car breaks down. People having a bad hair day or no hair are the brunt of jokes. Having bad teeth or a cleft palate will surely end your hopes for an acting carreer.
To be sure, many of the reasons why people are discriminated against can be helped. Sometimes surgery or new set of clothes, or learning to speak in a socially acceptable way or using the proper language at the proper time would be of help. Some could loose weight, put on weight or get a tan. Others might try practicing casual or business communications to help aleviate some of the pressure. Many may they have little they can do, however I suspect that everyone can do a little something to lessen their plight.
It seems unlikely that individual efforts will ever make a permanent and lasting change. People are just different and no sooner that you think you have seen it all and you will see something new. Someone will find that new thing something they can discriminate against. For those people it will be as if they are an alien race setting foot on the planet for the first time. Even those who have been discriminated will line up to discriminate against these. It would appear hopeless.
Today President Obama spoke to the NAACP. Part of what he said follows:
"But make no mistake: the pain of discrimination is still felt in America. By African-American women paid less for doing the same work as colleagues of a different color and gender. By Latinos made to feel unwelcome in their own country. By Muslim Americans viewed with suspicion for simply kneeling down to pray. By our gay brothers and sisters, still taunted, still attacked, still denied their rights.
"On the 45th anniversary of the Civil Rights Act, discrimination must not stand. Not on account of color or gender; how you worship or who you love. Prejudice has no place in the United States of America."
President Obama's words call for an end to pejudice and discrimination and while he cannot mention everyone, leaving out anyone is regrettable, particularly if you are that one. You cannot help but notice that he mentioned today only the minorities he hopes to favor. If you are one he has ignored, the middle ager who has lost their job because their age, or if you are a Jehovah's Wittness and people find you offensive to work around. For every people there are differences. You can make laws and circulate petitions. We have these things now yet another speech.
Some will make speeches or write blogs and some will do nothing. Still others will continue to discriminate using none of the above, but using their place and power in life to deprive others of their freedoms. Some, because of the lofty stations can minimize and even ignore the "dull and ignorant" masses, feeling superior in intellect and therfore worthy to control our destinies. In truth all of these forms of discrimination originate in the minds of people. It is those minds that discriminate and since we all have a mind it is possible to imagine that we all discrimate and are discriminated against.
To single out a race or a religion, a people or a concept and point the finger of blame is to discriminate. Declaring your neigbor a racist, is that not discriminatory? So who then has the right to accuse, to chose what is right, fair and just. Who can say? Whatever you choose to say or not, write or not, do or not do, nothing will happen until the heart and conscience of the hater stops hating. The solution lies within the spiritual side of man. To date there is no law that can correct that.
I am just another concerned citizen. It would be great to help America to return to her foundations and stop this runaway government. This blog is my attempt to help.
